Ronald Jack ‘Popi’ Beaty, aged 86 years old, passed April 2, 2016, at home.
Born in Lamont, Fla., Jack was a farmer at heart - buying his first farm before 30 - and an airplane mechanic by trade. He served in the military during the Korean conflict then spent some time in Atlanta before marrying his sweetheart Audrey in 1961. After 20 years moving around the Southeast, Jack and Audrey made Fayetteville their home, and both would spend their final years in Fayetteville. Jack was the epitome of a strong, but loving American guy. He understood the meaning and value of hard work, and tried to instill this into his children and grandchildren. Pop was also an affectionate and caring husband, father, uncle and grandfather who would always grab the opportunity to show someone attention. His values were simple but meaningful, and that is the legacy he leaves behind.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Audrey, parents Kenneth and Gladys, brothers Ken and Hilton, sister Mary Evelyn, children Nancy Vickers and James DeShayes, and grandson Brandon Doty. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Blair Doty (Eric) and grandchildren Heather, Asher and Joseph; his son Thomas DeShayes and grandson Lance; his son John DeShayes and granddaughters Marie and Jean; his sister-in-law Carol and sister-in-law Marie Beaty.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lamont on Saturday, April 30, 2016, followed by a private interment at Walker Cemetery.00 until 7:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory, 770-964-4800.
