Obituary​

Mr. Robert (Bob) “Hootie” Peoples Akin, age 77, of Rome, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2023, at his private residence after a brief illness.

Bob was the son of the late Robert Paul Akin and the late Viola Peoples Akin of Murphy, NC. The beloved brother of Vickie Austin McKneely, his chosen sister.  Bob was the beloved husband of Mary Warren Akin, beloved father of Christopher “Kris” Akin (Jennifer Stewart 1971-2022) and the late Paul Brian Akin (1975-1994). Bob was beloved grandfather of Alexandria “Alex” Akin, Rayna Akin, Koby Akin, Margaret Grace and Kaitlyn Grace. 

Bob was a retiree of Northwest Airlines after 30 years in the airline industry.  He requested there be no farewell services.
