Nita Clements Chagares  

Passed away peacefully in her Niceville home August 22, 2022, at the age of 91. Nita was a lifelong member of the FWB Yacht Club and an active member of the local Power Squadron. She was a founder of and served as chief flight attendant for Southern Airways and became the first woman in charge of airline operations. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Chagares, her brothers Dwayne and Jim Clements (Karen). She is survived by her brother Rodney Clements, her son Chris Chagares (Lorra) and her daughter Sandi Chagares Rasmussen. She leaves behind grandchildren, Jeramy Rasmussen, Jamie Chagares, Alex Chagares (Anita), Candace Hodges, Kyle Romeo, Zachary and Brandi Robertson, great grandchildren Mila Hodges, Ava, Anthony and Annabeth Chagares, nephew John Tashik (Donna), and niece Andrea Tashik (George Jolesz). Visitation will be held Tuesday August 30th at 9:00am at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville, with service at 10:00am. She will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola FL Wednesday August 31st 2:00pm. Nita was a loving family member and friend. She will be missed.
