James “Jim” Mann, 86, died at his home in New Albany, Mississippi on September 6, 2013. He died peacefully after an extended illness with his family and friends at his bedside. A native of LaGrange, Georgia, he was born on May 23, 1927 to Kermit and Alma Mann. He attended Auburn University prior to being called to serve in World War II. He was employed in the airline business most of his adult life in Nashville, Tennessee and Miami, Florida. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge and active in the Boy Scouts of America. In 1972, he served as president of the Rotary Club in Donelson, Tennessee and was also a member of the American Legion. He was a charter member of Donelson Methodist Church before moving his membership to First United Methodist Church of New Albany. Jim had a contagious smile and loved to make others laugh. He loved music, sports but most of all he loved spending time with family. The family will celebrate Jim’s life with a private memorial service at his home on Sunday, September 15th officiated by Chaplain Taz Irby. Burial will be in the family cemetery. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Anna Mann, and by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife of 22 years, Yvonne Mosley Mann; daughter Cathy Malis (Bob) of Hawaii; son Gerry Mann (Carole) of Germantown, Tennessee; Rob Mosley (Gail) of the Auburn Community; Lee Waldrop (Scott) of New Albany; his grandchildren Joel Mann; Ryan, Kyle and Conner Malis; Michelle Ondo; Luke Mosley ; Jimbo, John Holt and Mary Scott Waldrop ; and five great grandchildren.
