George Edward Hill Sr., affectionately known as “Sonny” was born February 18, 1948, to the late George Henry and Evelyn Hill of Atlanta, GA. He was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools system and was a graduate of South Fulton High School. Sonny had always been a hard worker and kept his hands busy working on cars and trucks. He worked from his early twenties and retired from Delta Airlines. He always loved animals and motorcycles that passion dominated his youth. He rode with the Golden Hawk Motor Club. However, nothing compared to his love of horses. As a child he always wanted a horse but not until early adulthood he purchased his first horse. He loved, groomed, and trained horses. Participating in all arenas of horse showmanship and sharing his love of horses with everyone brought him much joy. He relocated to Shelbyville to entrench and surrounded himself by a community that also loved horses.
     He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Hill; son, George E. Hill Jr; mother, Evelyn G. Hill; father, George H. Hill, and his sister, Debra J. Hill.
     He leaves to cherish his memory his children: devoted daughter Monique Hill and son, D’Juan “Mel” Hill;Grandchildren: Alexander Swift, Tony R. Swift, Jr., Malachi Hill, Eli Hill, Keyrhina “K-K” Hill; great-grandchildren: Skylar Davis, Sidney Davis, Sloane Moore, and Myla Swift; siblings: Ms. Frankie Howard, Ms. Joeen Hill, Harold Tony Hill of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews: Lisa Thompson, Mellanee Wallace, Cherylnita Cone, Winfrey Hill, Roman Hill, Bryant Hill, and Evelyn Hill. His longtime childhood friend James E. “Shade” Hill and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

     Funeral services 1 PM Saturday, April 22, 2024, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.
