Gaston M. Sutton
May 14, 1922 - February 14, 2011

Gaston M. Sutton 88, of Columbus passed away peacefully on February 14, 2011.  He was born May 14, 1922 in Lyons, Georgia to the late George Franklin Sutton and Amelia Lilly Smith Sutton. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Parkhill Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary  4071 Macon Road, Columbus. Visitation for Mr. Sutton will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the funeral home. Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Wester Sutton and their son, Frank Sutton and a grandson, Chris Stinson. Mr. Sutton was the last of twelve siblings.  He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Sutton was a charter member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge #491 Johnson Corner, Georgia. Mr. Sutton was retired from Southern Airways after twenty five years of service as a Station Manager. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Stinson of Midland, GA., Cathy Flournoy of Hamilton, Ga., one son, Mike Sutton of Columbus, GA., ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences and flowers may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.
