Floyd Davis "Bobby" Harris, Jr.
February 14, 1931 ~ October 25, 2023

Floyd Davis "Bobby" Harris, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 25, 2023. In Heaven, he is reunited with his wife of 70 years, Jana "Peggy" Harris.

Bobby was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 14, 1931. He attended Messick School for 12 years where he met Peggy in the 9th grade. He graduated from Memphis State College. Bobby had a 30-year career as an airline pilot. His career began at Southern Airways, and he retired from Delta Airlines at the age of 60. His passion for flying continued long after his retirement.

Bobby was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Tennessee. His faith and family were most important to him. Bobby also had a love for adventure and traveling. His hobbies included motorcycles, small airplanes, tractors and anything with an engine. La Grange was his home for 45 years. His land and the community were very special to him. He especially enjoyed Saturday mornings at the corner in La Grange drinking coffee with the men.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Jana "Peggy" Harris; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Davis Harris, Sr.; and his sister, Janice Harris Buchanan. He is survived by his children, Dave Harris, Jana Kearney (Doug) and Jeanne Thomas (Charlie). Bobby was "Grandaddy" to Walt Kearney (Amelia), Harris Kearney, Claire Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas. Bobby had one great-grandchild, Ford Kearney. He is also survived by family members, Bill Ross and Jan Buchanan Cook. His grandchildren will always treasure their time spent with him in "the country". He was a teacher and role model to all.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Monday, October 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Tennessee. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. until 12 noon.

Jana "Peggy" (Kirtland) Harris

November 17, 1931 ~ May 17, 2023 (age 91)

Jana “Peggy” Kirtland Harris went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2023. Peggy was born on November 17, 1931. She graduated from Messick High School where she met her husband, Bobby Harris. Peggy attended Memphis State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Peggy was an active member of First Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Tennessee. Her faith and family were the greatest joys in her life. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling with her husband.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Henry Kirtland; her sister, Jeanne Fletcher; and brother, Charles Kirtland. She is survived by her brother, Buddy Kirtland (Pat).

Peggy is survived by her husband of 70 years, Floyd (Bobby) Harris, Jr.  Peggy loved being a mother and grandmother.
