Obituary
Betty Sue Clifton Yandell, of Memphis, formerly of Vance, MS, died February 23, 2012. Born September 13, 1931, in Jackson, MS, she was the daughter of Yerger Hunt Clifton and Sudie Wilson Clifton of Jackson, MS. She married and is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, William McBride Yandell, Jr. Mrs. Yandell leaves three children: William McBride Yandell III (Jennifer) of Memphis, Yerger Clifton Yandell (Nancy) of Chicago, Illinois and Susan Yandell McKee (John) of Clarksdale, Mississippi. She also leaves six beloved grandchildren: William McBride Yandell IV, Philip McCaull Yandell, Sarah Clifton Yandell, Natalie Grace Yandell, Elizabeth Yandell McKee and John Baskervill McKee IV and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Yerger Hunt Clifton, Jr. Mrs. Yandell was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS and attended Mississippi State College for Women. She was also a flight attendant with Southern Airways. She was a member of the Tuesday Study Club, The Antiquarians, the National Society of the Colonial Dames, the Delta Sewing Club, St. John's Episcopal Church, and The Dixon Art Gallery. She was the quintessential southern lady and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at St. John's Episcopal Church, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. A graveside service and burial will be 4 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi.
