Archie, 88, passed away on October 14th in the memory care unit at Sunrise Senior Living in Marietta, GA, after a struggle with Alzeheimer's. Archie was born September 12, 1926, in Charleston, SC, to the late Cotis Cortez and Hattie Clyde Yawn. Archie served three years in the Navy and then devoted his life to the airline industry. He was a founding employee of Southern Airways in 1949 which later became North Central, Republic, Northwest and Delta. He spent 47 years with the airlines in public relations and government affairs before retiring in 1996. Archie is survived by four children: Des Yawn (and Mary), Marietta, GA; Pat Hammond, Canton, GA; Michael Yawn, Marietta, GA; Marcus Ingram (and Ginny), Palm Harbor, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. There will be a private memorial ceremony for the family at the Georgia National Cemetary in Canton, GA.
